Our goal at Great Beginnings is to provide quality care for children in a warm, loving environment that is rich with wonder. We believe that children learn best through varied experiences, hand's on exploration, and self-discovery. It is in this process of discovery that learning takes place.
The curriculum we use is written by us. It includes art, music, stories, and use of manipulative's, blocks, dramatic play, science, and movement. We enjoy holidays with low-key celebrations, and fun filled arts and crafts.(Religious education relating to holidays is not in our curriculum.) As we work and plan for children, we follow some basic goals:
1. To develop emotionally: Assist the young child in establishing individuality. Contribute toward the development of self-reliance and a positive self image.
2.To develop socially: Assist the child in coordinating interpersonal skills. These skills are essential in learning to work and play successfully with others.
3.To develop intellectually: To help children gain a sense of independence that comes from the ability to problem solve. To help the child learn about the world.
4.To develop physically: To help children learn to care for their own bodies by beginning to learn what people need to develop and grow. To help children develop their full physical potential.
